The day after Victoria flew in, we traveled by bus down to the city of Wellington, the capital of "En Zed". If I had it all to do over again, I'd spend more time exploring the south island. That said, it is a pretty cool town with an awesome downtown. The city resides in a small, compact harbor with steep hills all around and is blasted by winds coming out of the southern ocean almost 24/7. The Te Papa museum and the Wellington Zoo are well worth checking out. After a few days there we took the ferry over to the small port of Picton on the S. Island. It was a neat experience. Here are a few pictures.
Te Papa: One of the first earthquake focus locators, made in China. Steel balls drop from the dragon heads indicating the direction of the P-wave.
Maori Art: Te Papa
Quite Possibly one of the coolest painting's I've ever seen: Te Papa
